A 20-year-old Westchester County man is dead and an 18-year-old male is in stable condition following a single-car crash that ended with the vehicle slamming into the side of a building.
The crash took place around 11:40 p.m., Monday, July 3 at 1420 West Boston Post Road in the town of Mamaroneck.
Responding officers found that a vehicle had left the roadway, struck a light pole and tree, and then collided with the side of the building where it came to rest on the driver’s side, said Capt. James Maher, of the town of Mamaroneck Police.
The driver and passenger were extricated from the vehicle by the town of Mamaroneck Fire Department and Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Maher said.
The 20-year-old driver from New Rochelle was transported by Mamaroneck EMS to Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle where he died from his injuries. His name has not yet been released.
The passenger, an 18-year-old male was transported by Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and is in serious condition, Maher said.
Maher said the New Rochelle Fire Department responded to the scene to stabilize the structure. The town Building Department will be assessing the structural integrity of the building.
The Town of Mamaroneck Police Department Detective Division responded to the scene with the assistance of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Accident Investigation Unit.
The Village of Larchmont and the Village of Mamaroneck Police Departments assisted in the response.
The accident remains under investigation.

A man was killed and another is in critical condition following a single-vehicle crash in Westchester County.
It happened just before midnight on Monday, July 3 on Boston Post Road (Route 1) near the Lexus dealership in Mamaroneck.
Few details are currently available, but police said two men were in the vehicle that crashed.
The unidentified driver was killed and the passenger is in critical condition as of the last check with medical staff on Tuesday, July 4.
